In the midst of all the external and internal turmoil, we are paralysed by the unpredictability of fate and that of fellow humans.
We then venture on reassuring one another and giving our word, hoping for a certain guarantee, which sheds a light of stability on the chaos that submerges the poor and rich, the healthy and the sick, the crowd and the individual.
With time, one might figure that it is impossible to keep all the promises made. The primary state when one makes a promise, or contracts, is quite volatile. Motives and objectives do change and no piece of paper or word could go against that transformation.
Now, the remaining question is merely about what becomes of the injured party. While the individual in breach might simply struggle with feelings of guilt for a short while, the injured is left with two options: retaliation or amor fati.
Indeed, the defaulting party can be careless, aloof and ignorant of the dejection that has befallen the other. And, in the event retaliation cannot be considered and acted upon, the only solution left is to overcome.
